Job Description:
We are seeking a Legal Counsel & Data Protection Officer (DPO) to join our team in Delhi, reporting to the Head of Legal and Compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the financial area, particularly in Fintech, Payment institutions, or Electronic Money Institutions (EMI).
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance & Legal Reporting:
Provide counsel on regulatory compliance for payment institutions across Singapore, India, the Middle East, Europe, and the US.
Ensure timely and accurate legal reporting in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Monitor changes in laws and issue recommendations to ensure compliance.
Data Protection (DPO):
Act as the Data Protection Officer, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations in multiple jurisdictions including India, Singapore, UAE, UK, Europe, Canada, and the US.
Conduct data protection audits and implement necessary changes.
Educate and train staff on data protection regulations and compliance.
Contract Support:
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, NDAs, terms and conditions, cookies policies, and other legal documents.
Provide legal support for corporate activities and ensure the company’s legal rights are maintained.
Collaborate closely with business units to tailor contracts that align with strategic objectives and mitigate risks.
Candidate Profile:
Law degree from a reputable university.
5-8 years of experience as a Legal Counsel or lawyer, preferably in Fintech or Payment institutions.
Strong expertise in regulatory compliance, legal reporting, and data protection.
Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
Understanding of Indian laws and regulations, with knowledge of common laws and European civil laws as a plus.
Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
