Patent Attorney (India)
Pune, India
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced patent attorney to join the Cohesity in-house Legal team. Reporting into the IP and Product (IP&P) function, you will join the Cohesity Patent team in India and help build and shape Cohesity’s patent portfolio, counsel clients, and mitigate IP-risks. You will partner with engineering teams and business units to capture innovation and build our patent portfolio, assist in refining our patent strategy, and work closely with outside counsel to manage patent preparation and prosecution.
How You’ll Spend Your Time Here
Manage the patent portfolio and perform related activities across various product and technology areas, including invention identification, patent review meetings, and strategic portfolio assessment
Oversee day-to-day worldwide patent prosecution and post-allowance efforts
Collaborate with outside counsel to manage patent preparation and prosecution
Prepare and provide IP trainings to internal stakeholders
Assist with IP Budget projections and spend tracking
Develop positive, strong, and collaborative relationships with multiple cross-functional partners (e.g., Engineering, Product Management, Marketing, Outside counsel, other Legal teams) to identify and protect products, projects, and services
Drive special projects, including establishing strategies, guidelines, processes, and procedures, to enable the IP legal team to provide best in class service to its partners
Collaborate regularly with the US-based colleagues, accommodating different time zones, with an anticipated commitment of at least 3 days per week.
Provide assistance as necessary with licensing, assertion, and other IP-related matters.
Increase diversity in innovation by assisting with Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) IP efforts
WE’D LOVE TO TALK TO YOU IF YOU HAVE MANY OF THE FOLLOWING:
Located in India
7+ years of patent legal experience in a law firm or corporate environment
Law degree with excellent academic credentials
Degree in electrical engineering or computer science and substantial real-world software / engineering experience
Prior in-house patent experience preferred and experience with establishing in-house IP processes, systems, and tools a plus
Experience in preparing and prosecuting domestic and international patent applications and providing patentability, validity, and infringement assessments
Creative and analytical abilities including strong problem-solving skills, and the capacity to deal with complex subject matter
Passion for AI and learning new areas of technology and evolving IP law
Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to successfully manage multiple simultaneous projects in a fast paced environment
Team oriented mindset with strong ethics and integrity, sound judgment, and ability to concisely identify solutions addressed to multiple needs
