Position :- Title Insurance Underwriter
Job Overview : A Title Insurance Underwriter is responsible for reviewing and analyzing title reports, property surveys, and legal documents to determine the insurability of a property title. They assess the risk associated with issuing a title insurance policy and make decisions based on their findings. Title Insurance Underwriters must have a strong understanding of real estate law, property rights, and title insurance regulations. They work closely with title examiners, attorneys, and other professionals to ensure that all necessary information is accurate and complete before issuing a policy. This role requires attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Review title search reports and examine property records to determine insurability of title
- Analyze legal documents such as deeds, mortgages, and easements to identify any issues that
may affect title
- Evaluate risk factors and determine appropriate coverage for title insurance policies
- Communicate with attorneys, lenders, and other parties involved in real estate transactions to
resolve title issues
- Prepare title insurance commitments, policies, and endorsements in accordance with company
guidelines
- Stay current on industry regulations and best practices related to title insurance underwriting
- Provide guidance and support to title examiners and other team members as needed
- Assist with training and mentoring new underwriters as needed
Education :-
1. Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field
Knowledge Skills and Experience
- In-depth knowledge of title insurance policies and procedures
- Strong analytical skills to review and assess title reports and legal documents
- Experience in underwriting title insurance policies for residential and commercial properties
- Familiarity with state regulations and guidelines related to title insurance
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, and other stakeholders
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and thoroughness in underwriting processes
- Proficiency in using underwriting software and tools to evaluate risk and make informed decisions
- Experience in resolving title issues and discrepancies to ensure clear title for property
transactions.
