Job Title: Writer (U.S. Business Immigration Law)
Location: Remote (California-based Law Firm)
About the role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced U.S. Immigration Writer to join our team on a contract basis. This position will support a prominent California-based law firm specializing in immigration cases. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Writing, English, Journalism, or a related field, and/or substantial experience in writing for U.S. immigration cases, such as O1A Extraordinary Ability Visa, EB1A Extraordinary Ability Petition, and National Interest Waiver petitions. Training will be provided to ensure you are fully equipped to excel in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Draft and edit support letters, legal documents and other materials related to immigration law.
Conduct thorough research on U.S. policy papers, articles, and memos to support case preparation and ensure accuracy.
Collaborate with attorneys to ensure all written materials are precise and effective.
Stay updated on changes and developments in U.S. immigration law to maintain high-quality writing.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Writing, English, Journalism, Law or an other writing-intensive field preferred.
Proven experience in non-fiction, academic, essay or other rhetorical or persuasive writing.
Strong preference for those with prior experience in U.S. business immigration law.
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Strong research abilities, attention to detail and outstanding organizational skills.
Ability to work independently managing a large volume of cases and meeting deadlines in a remote work environment.
Analytical mindset with a rigorous approach to evaluating arguments and evidence.
Flexible and able to quickly adapt to rapid changes in the workplace.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Strong word processing and computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and comfort with utilizing technology in your work.
