Markets Legal Team –Associate/ AVP based in Mumbai

JPMorgan’s Europe Mid-East Africa (EMEA) Legal Markets Practice group is looking for a motivated Trusted Advisor to join its dynamic Prime, Derivatives Research and Sales Team. Upon joining the team, you will learn a wide range of financial products (e.g. Bilateral Derivatives, Exchange Traded Derivatives, Cleared Swaps and Stock Lending) and will develop the legal skills required to draft and negotiate the market standard agreements (including but not limited to, ISDA Master Agreements, Futures & Options and Cleared OTC Derivatives agreements and GMSLA agreements. By joining the team, you will have the opportunity to play a critical role in the success of several market leading businesses, where the role of the in-house lawyer is vital to the success of the business. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge as a financial services lawyer through working on a variety of products within the wider Markets Practice Group.

You will be responsible for ensuring appropriate legal agreements are negotiated and put in place with new and existing clients being onboarded onto the Markets platform and are processed accordingly.

You will be interacting with internal teams across the Corporate & Investment Bank including Sales, Credit Risk, Client Service, Business Management and Operations, as well as Dealers and external Clients.

You will have to coordinate the internal approval process and initiate Client documentation processes with different production areas of the firm.

You will be involved in commissioning and reviewing various legal opinions and resolving issues raised by Clients and the relevant Markets Businesses that relate to legal agreements and Markets product suites.

You will strategize with relevant Markets Businesses on best way to manage changes to product development, risk or operational processes.

You will be assisting and advising on regulatory change and implementation affecting the relevant Markets Business.

You are expected to drive processes, documentation, and efficiency improvements across the team’s areas of coverage.

Required Skills And Experience

Previous derivative documentation experience – Fixed Income Financing, Futures and Options experience or Over The Counter derivatives

Legal Qualification

Motivation and determination to learn

Strong attention to detail and interpersonal experience

Polished verbal and written communication skills

Must be literate in Microsoft programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)

Ability to manage projects and work independently & Team player, confident, and proactive
