Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Legal Counsel to join our Legal team at Lenovo. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive legal support to our India Geo and site operations, supporting allocated business verticals and functional clients. This role requires a strong understanding of advisory, compliance, and risk management within the Tech/IT/ITES sector.
Key Responsibilities
Advisory and Compliance:
Provide legal advice and support on a wide range of issues related to business operations in the Tech/IT/ITES sector.
Establish, monitor, and ensure compliance with legal standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
Conduct and oversee training sessions on legal and policy matters, including ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices.
Stay updated with emerging trends, best practices, and changes in laws affecting the business.
Advise on corporate governance and compliance programs, including periodic and incidental corporate filings.
Risk Management:
Identify and mitigate potential legal risks in business operations and transactions.
Develop and implement risk management strategies to protect the company's interests.
Monitor and report corporate compliance, conduct risk assessments, and ensure mitigation of identified risks.
Manage and oversee litigation, coordinating with external counsels as necessary.
Corporate and Non-Litigation:
Handle corporate legal matters, including contract drafting, review, and negotiation.
Manage legal documentation and correspondence.
Oversee non-litigation matters, ensuring compliance with corporate governance principles.
Litigation Management:
Manage and coordinate litigation activities through external counsels.
Provide strategic advice and support in resolving disputes and legal proceedings.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with various business units and functional teams to provide integrated legal solutions.
Foster a collaborative and proactive legal environment within the company.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university. A Master’s degree (LLM) is preferred.
Additional certifications in compliance, risk management, or related fields are advantageous.
Experience:
Minimum 10 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the Tech/IT/ITES sector.
Proven experience in advisory, compliance, and risk management.
Corporate law firm experience is desirable.
Experience in handling regulatory and statutory compliance, as well as managing litigation.
Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Self-driven, proactive, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
Proficiency in using legal and compliance management software tools.
