Role Purpose:
The successful candidate will be part of the Group Legal team and will report to the Group Head of Legal based in Dublin, Ireland. The Legal Counsel will be responsible for advising Flutter in relation to commercial contracts, employment law, general legal queries; ensuring that Flutter always operates within the law; providing pragmatic and commercial legal advice that protects Flutter’s reputation, brands, customers, and shareholders; and facilitating the achievement of the Flutter Group's objectives and strategy.
Responsibilities:
Draft, negotiate and review commercial and technology agreements.
Provide employment law advice to the Hyderabad location.
Advise on litigation strategy, manage litigation matters.
Advise on ad hoc legal queries, including areas such as property, intellectual property, local legal requirements etc.
Provide pragmatic, commercial, and strategic legal advice to the Hyderabad location.
Evaluate and weigh multiple inputs and impacts of strategic and commercial decisions and the legal implications that arise.
Provide assistance and input as required by the Hyderabad leadership team.
Assist the Risk, Compliance and Regulatory functions by offering legal expertise and advice on risk management and exposure, liability, compliance and governance, taking a broad view that encompasses the Group's integrity and reputation management.
Manage external legal resources to ensure a comprehensive and cost-efficient legal support to all areas of the Group's business.
Anticipate and respond to new legislation, with the ability to digest, summarise and succinctly communicate how new legal developments will affect the business.
Ensure alignment with Group Legal, sharing best practice with colleagues and supporting Group wide collaboration.
Provide legal training and development to the Hyderabad location.
Experience:
We're looking for a lawyer with at least 5 years' PQE, but we're not obsessed by PQE. What's more important is that you have solid experience, preferably with an international element.
We typically look for people with experience at a highly regarded law firm and/or experience in-house, either on a client secondment or permanent role. We value our people and culture highly, so a suitable candidate must be an outstanding communicator and be great with people. The candidate will also need to show an ability to translate complex legal matters and articulate pros and cons of legal alternatives without losing commercial focus and be capable of challenging senior business stakeholders.
A desire to understand Flutter's business and work in a global, fast-moving, technology-driven sector within a dynamic regulatory environment is crucial.
Being a self-starter and having the confidence to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment and to manage a varied workload will be essential.
