1. Job Purpose
Provide seamless legal support to Manufacturing Operations of the Company and provide, manage all legal advisory, contracting, property, compliance coordination, industrial relations support and legal assistance in all regulatory matters.
2. Key Accountabilities
Accountability Cluster Major Activities / Tasks
Drafting, negotiation and finalisation of Commercial
Agreements/Legal Documents such as
Confidentiality Agreement, Service Agreements,
Letter of Authority/Letter of Undertaking etc. within
timelines. Provide adequate support to the
respective Manufacturing Units for structuring and
preparing documentation for commercial deals and
ensure adherence to specific state/country laws and
regulations.
• Excellent skills in contracting, documentation,
communication with regulatory authorities and external
vendors, clients and service providers.
• Draft, review, negotiate and ensure timely completion of
the agreements including EPC contracts, project
consultant agreement etc. as may be required for
execution of green field/brown field projects. All
commercial and non-commercial transactional legal work.
• Drafting of confidentiality agreements, service agreements
and other legal documentations including writing letters to
various government authorities. Issuance of LOA and POA
as per the requirement of various departments of group
companies. Coordination with manufacturing units’ teams
for efficient and timely execution of the agreements.
• Provides overview on the completion of the critical
business agreements, reviews and provides observations
to Head Legal – Tech ops and Corporate regarding legal
and commercial risks associated with transactions and
their potential impact on business and suggest appropriate
mitigating measures.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and ensure
finalisation of the agreements within the timelines
stipulated and handle the pressures and delivers the work
smoothly without any escalations.
• Manage all property related transactions. Legal Advisory
for all statutory and legislative interpretation and legal
issues. Disputes and Notices in coordination with Litigation
Team. Cross Functional engagement with all Functions in
the Company ensuring effective legal partnering. Engaging
with the larger Legal Team for efficient, timely and overall
legal services.
Providing advisory in relation to any queries
received from manufacturing units.
• To provide advisory and necessary assistance and support
to Head Legal – Tech Ops to implement the best legal
practices and execute all activities in compliance with Cipla
standards to ensure smooth and uninterrupted flow of
operations within manufacturing units.
• Compliance Coordination involving policy, process and
compliance reporting through automated compliance
management tool on behalf of Manufacturing by working
closely with the Global Compliance Team to ensure

Effective policy and compliance adherence by the
Manufacturing Function.
• Knowledge of Factories Act, laws governing Contract
Labour Matters, Narcotics and Controlled Substances,
Drugs and Cosmetics Act, PESO, Property Laws,
Environmental Laws etc. will help in providing advisory.
Subject matter expertise in all legal aspects, legal
framework and laws relating to Pharmaceuticals,
Manufacturing, Government Policy framework, with close
watch on legal developments, issues and statutes
• Provide adequate support to Manufacturing units with
respect to all the query raised on compliance adherence,
operational decision being taken by the manufacturing
units, any issues wrt compliance with law being raised by
the manufacturing units.
• Ensure all advisory given stands in adherence with
applicable laws and regulations. In case of any
amendment in law relating to critical factory compliances,
Tech ops team is required to prepare management note
and coordinate with all sites PAN India and brief them for
ensuring effective compliance. Prepare risk notes,
management reports and presentations on Legal Issues
pertaining to Manufacturing and submit for timely
approvals and advice from TechOps Legal Head and from
GC in critical legal and transactional matters.
• Assist in preparing justifications to inquiries regarding
existing contract obligations and revisions, identify risks
and issues, and suggest alternatives for it.
• Develop a robust and transparent briefing and reporting
mechanism for Head of Manufacturing and Technical
Operations, Site Heads, Factory Managers, Function
Heads and act as the Legal SPOC for managing legal risks
in Manufacturing and related operations.
• Develop expertise in respect of legal framework for
manufacturing, green field projects, high value
procurements and policy advocacy in respect of latest legal
developments.
Undertake various ad-hoc projects assigned from
time to time.
• Research and prepare notes on the applicable laws and
regulatory landscape for the identified territories and keep
abreast herself/himself about the legislative changes in
pharmaceutical industry in those territories.
• Effectively participate in all audits and provide essential
legal support and involvement.
• Assist in preparing brief/project deck/reports after
examination of the documents collated and provided by the
internal and external stakeholders.

Relevant experience:
Minimum 06 years of total legal experience
