Model District Project, Ahmedabad - Gujarat
Ahmedabad District, the administrative hub of Gujarat State and its most populous and rapidly developing urban center, identifies itself as a threat to the ecosystem, hence the project plans to achieve a harmonious balance between humans and animal lives. Our goal is to establish sustainable and humane methods for urban animal management, enhance infrastructure for local animal welfare organizations, and continuously raise awareness about animal protection laws through advocacy. We collaborate closely with government authorities to ensure adherence to legal directives and guidelines, aiming to improve the welfare of all animals from cows, hens, birds, fish, horses, pigs, etc. This project aims to promote ethical standards and humane treatment across the district, involving stakeholders from various animal welfare sectors and entities.
Job Summary
We are looking for a self motivated Legal advisor to ensure smooth running of the project involving setting up of Model district for Animal Protection Laws in Ahmedabad. The candidate must be effective in legal analysis, drafting, researching matters that aids in improving animal welfare standards in Ahmedabad.
Role description
Provide administrative support and coordinate with in-house Litigation team and enhance effectiveness in filings, court proceedings, appeals, case management.
Associates communicate with the project donor, stakeholders, project team, etc primarily through mail, chat and phone and utilize softskills to navigate effective solutions in a fun and fast-paced environment.
Compile written reports, correspondences and presentations when necessary on items requested by the legal team and project incharge.
Prepare case briefs and summarize statistical/documentary research after due investigations, field work, etc.
Able to work towards monthly/ quarterly set goals by the project team for improving animal welfare standards.
Qualifications : Bachelor’s Degree or higher/ preferably legal background.
Candidates are expected to have refined research and writing skills.
Familiarity with law, legal procedures,vocabulary, protocols, and court system. Basic understanding about Animal protection laws is a must. Satisfactory knowledge of day-to-day operations of a legal office.
Proficiency in English. Basic understanding of regional language (Gujarati) will be an added benefit.
Computer literacy. Excellent secretarial and organizational skills. Acute attention to detail and ability to think critically.
Ability to juggle multiple activities and work under pressure.
