We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Asst. Legal Counsel ,Global Trade & Receivables Finance
Principal responsibilities:
Under supervision of Senior Legal Counsel- Global Trade & Receivables Finance Global Legal Service, provide legal support to the Global Trade & Receivables Finance business on transactions.
Review transaction documentation, on which the jobholder is supporting, for adherence to Global Trade & Receivables Finance policies and procedures, to manage legal risk.
Use agreed channels to escalate matters where necessary to ensure the business receives timely and appropriate legal support.
Global Trade & Receivables Finance transactions are supported and managed to facilitate successful and timely execution as required by Global Trade & Receivables Finance senior management.
Where necessary, matters are escalated to the Senior Legal Counsel for local Wholesale Global Trade & Receivables Finance Legal engagement.
The jobholder will be responsible for assisting line management / the wider Global Trade & Receivables Finance Global Legal Services team on transactions and must have the ability to support a range of contractual legal issues.
Requirements
The role holder is responsible for the drafting and negotiating of various types of trade documentation.
Role Holder is accountable to assist with the completion of a range of tasks which includes but not limited to:
Review of template facility and security documentation from all customer segments for products which include receivables finance, lending, documentary credits, trade collections, bonds/guarantees, supply chain finance, leasing and hire purchase.
Gap analysis of standard terms against bespoke documentation. , including sharing output with Senior Legal Counsel
Review of transactional documentation, including customer board resolutions and capacity opinions.
In specific cases, negotiation of template finance and security documentation in adherence with guidelines
Qualified lawyer (common law jurisdiction preferable) with 3-5 years’ post qualification banking and finance experience.
Understanding of domestic banking and finance law and transactions. Trade finance experience preferred but not required.
Ability to work independently and, where required, collaboratively to support a range of team members.
Regulatory experience and a general understanding of risk management is an advantage, but not essential.
