The IEP Facilitator is a highly qualified teacher responsible to relieve the responsibilities that a large special education program creates within a school. The role of facilitator is to be the instructional program leader and advocate for students with disabilities within the school setting through the IEP process.

This is a full-time position. Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week is required. Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday, typically 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school.

Send Prior Written Notice Letters to families for upcoming IEP meetings.

Maintain the master IEP meeting tracker in Share Point

Effectively communicate procedures and best practices to staff through regular meetings.

Inform the Special Programs Manager concerns/issues that may be supervisory in nature.

Demonstrate the ability to assist the team, administration, professional staff, and support staff with the effective implementation of federal, state and local mandates.

Assist parents in problem solving and acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills to support the development and implementation of their child’s IEP though communication with special education personnel.

Provide school staff with information on positive behavioral supports and other effective teaching techniques.

Maintain, on a regularly scheduled basis, all confidential folders and IEP’s to ensure completeness and compliance.

Assure confidentiality and organization or records through observable procedures consistent with administrative directives;

Collaborate with counseling staff/administration to assure proper class scheduling;

Share/disseminate accommodations of students with general education staff.

Assist IEP teams in the development and implementation of the Transition plans;

Ability to effectively use SER and data management systems;

Collects data and work samples to support selection and implementation of IEP goals and objectives; Documents all contact with parents, collaborations with general education teachers, and interventions with students.

Develops the student's IEP, meeting all annual review timelines and notification requirements;

Maintains all required reports as assigned by the Special Education Manager including student progress reports and report cards.

Maintain current student files according to current file checklist.

Ensures that assigned students participate in statewide testing and receive monitored accommodations as defined by the IEP.

Input testing accommodations in Testing Nirvana and maintain SER, LA state reporting program.

Perform other duties as assigned by Special Programs Manager.

Attends all required professional development.

Serves as proctors for site-based proctored exams.

Participates in the school's self-evaluation programs.

Supports the school administration in the enrollment of special education students.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree AND

Three (3) years of special education teaching experience

Meet requirements for Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) in Special Education under No Child Left Behind (NCLB)

Special Education Licensure

Residency Requirement

Must reside in Louisiana

Understanding of applicable sections of the State Education Code and other pertinent regulations

Willingness and ability to obtain additional licensing as required

Ability to travel up to 10% of the time within and between assigned geographic areas to support students; attend regularly scheduled meetings and participate in school activities, open houses and orientations

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook as well as Internet research methods and report writing techniques; Utilizes computer software associated with curriculum

Ability to pass required background check including ability to obtain a fingerprint clearance (where applicable)

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Education or related field

Experience with charter school environment

Experience working with proposed age group

Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology

Ability to learn new technologies and tools

Experience teaching in both online and in a brick-and-mortar environments

This is a home-based position but may require some periodic office time to perform some duties and light travel to sites to support scheduled trainings, student testing, student remediation, and activities
