Alfa Laval has been present in India since 1937. It is part of the Alfa Laval Group headquartered out of Lund, Sweden, and sits within the India, Middle East, and Africa cluster. The India Corporate Office is in Pune, Maharashtra.

The factories located in Maharashtra manufactures and supplies key components and systems in Separation, Heat Transfer, and Flow technology. It is also a hub for Centrifugal Separators, Decanters, and Flow equipment delivered to the global markets from here.

The company's products and solutions are omnipresent in over 25 multiple Indian industries including food processing, dairy, edible oil processing, sugar production, pharmaceutical & biotechnology, brewery, distillery, starch, pulp and paper, oil & gas, marine and energy. Alfa Laval caters to many national and international clients based across India and neighboring countries like Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh.

We are now looking for a for an Inspirational leader to spearheading Legal function in India, partnering closely with the business leaders and managers.

You will be a member of Alfa Laval India Management team, directly reporting to Managing Director of Alfa Laval India.

Moreover, you will be responsible for leading, developing and securing a high performing team in line with the Alfa Laval culture.

Role Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced legal professional to join our team. This role is responsible for developing and implementing legal strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives. The ideal candidate will provide proactive legal advice to support decision-making across various business segments, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Provide legal expertise and support in specific legal competence area (specialist competence) and/or all fields of business and commercial law (generalist competence area), including commercial contracts, R&D, product liability, M&A and intellectual property (except for patent and design) through sound commercial, legal and ethical risk assessments.

Proactively partner with and advise management on potential legal matters to maximize business opportunities.

Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts Implementing and actively participating in the continuous improvement of related policies and processes, template agreements, and supporting tools.

Facilitating proactive management of the compliance areas Export Control and Sanctions, Anti-Bribery/Anti-Corruption, Fair Competitions and Data Privacy; and implementing and actively participating in the continuous improvement of related policies and processes, template agreements, and supporting tools

Educating business colleagues of the Cluster in legal competence areas and/or commercial contract, corporate governance, and the Group Legal compliance subject matters areas; and ensuring knowledge sharing within the legal and compliance team.

Managing and coordinating disputes and litigations in liaison with external counsels.

Keep updated on legislative trends and changes, and support the business to mitigate risks, which may affect the business

Manage Company Secretarial responsibilities for Alfa Laval India Cluster companies.

To contribute effectively to our business, you will require these essential skills

Law degree (LL.B. or higher)

10 years of relevant legal experience from in-house or private practice

Qualified Company Secretary (ACS/FCS)

Experience negotiating complex commercial contracts with multi-national companies

Strong commercial instincts and excellent business collaboration skills

Experience from working with the compliance areas of Export Control and Trade Sanctions, Anti-Bribery/Anti-Corruption, Fair Competition, and Data Privacy is a merit

Reporting Relationship

Experience training and/or leading other legal professionals

This role reports to the Managing Director, Alfa Laval India with a functional reporting to Group Legal, VP Group Legal.

Location: Pune
