Qualification -
Bachelor’s degree Civil/Electrical Engineering with a masters or degree in
Law (LL.B/LL.M or equivalent).
o Professional certifications in construction law, electrical safety, or related
areas are a plus.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Techno-Legal Consultant with expertise in civil/electrical
engineering to provide legal and technical advisory services. The ideal candidate will have a
strong background in both law and engineering, enabling them to navigate complex legal and
regulatory issues related to construction, infrastructure, and electrical projects. This role
involves ensuring compliance with relevant laws, standards, and regulations while mitigating
risks in both civil and electrical domains.
Key Responsibilities:
• Legal and Regulatory Compliance:
o Review and analyze legal implications of civil/electrical engineering projects,
including construction contracts, project management agreements, and service
contracts.
o Ensure compliance with local, national, and international laws & regulations,
including building codes, safety standards, environmental laws, and electrical
standards.
o Advise on legal matters related to contract drafting & management, land
acquisition norms, zoning, permitting, and environmental impact assessments
for civil projects.
• Contract Management:
o Draft, review, and negotiate contracts for civil/electrical projects, including
construction contracts, EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction)
contracts, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and maintenance agreements.
o Ensure contracts are aligned with legal requirements and best practices in both
civil and electrical engineering.
• Risk Management:
o Identify and assess legal and technical risks associated with civil/electrical
projects.
o Develop strategies to mitigate risks related to construction defects, electrical
failures, delays, cost overruns, and regulatory non-compliance.
o Provide guidance on insurance policies, warranties, and indemnities for
civil/electrical projects.
• Dispute Resolution and Litigation Support:
o Assist in resolving disputes arising from civil/electrical engineering contracts,
including construction claims, payment disputes, and liability issues.
o Support legal teams in litigation or arbitration involving technical aspects of
civil and electrical projects.
o Provide expert testimony in disputes related to construction defects, electrical
failures, and other technical issues.
• Technical and Legal Advisory:
o Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure that designs, specifications, and
practices comply with legal standards and regulations.
o Provide legal guidance on issues related to project financing, procurement,
and public-private partnerships (PPPs) in the civil/electrical sectors.
o Stay updated on the latest developments in civil and electrical engineering
laws, regulations, and industry standards.
• Training and Compliance Programs:
o Develop and deliver training programs on legal compliance for engineering
and construction teams.
o Create and implement compliance programs to ensure adherence to relevant
laws and standards in civil and electrical projects.
