About you
We are looking for a technically proficient lawyer to support the Legal function for our epay, EFT and
REN divisions. You will report directly to APAC legal in Switzerland and will be part of a team
comprising 6 other Mumbai based attorneys. The legal function supports senior members of the
business team globally and your work will typically involve:
o Contracts: structuring, drafting & reviewing contracts with financial institutions and blue-chip
technology companies. Please note : this is a critical skill set. Please only consider this role if you
enjoy drafting legal documents and are recognized as being exceptionally skilled at it.
o Regulatory matters: understanding cutting edge fintech laws across APAC.
o Risk management: advising business stakeholders on legal risks and liabilities in new business
initiatives.
o Templates: sourcing and creating templates for various agreements and adapting them for
regional markets.
o Manuals & systems: helping create manuals and processes to get the legal function to work better.
o Knowledge management: keeping up to speed with current changes on all relevant laws.
o Training: sharing legal know-how across the company to help manage risk.
o Miscellaneous: advising on employment, real estate and other corporate legal issues.
Key skill sets & personality traits
• Law degree from a top 5 law school in India with robust academic credentials.
• 3+ years in a top 10 law firms with an international practice & 1+ years in-house (ideally in an MNC).
• Must be technically sound with a strong knowledge of contract laws and a good knowledge of
finance, banking and technology laws. Experience in structuring fintech, e-commerce and financial
settlement contracts will be viewed favorably.
• Top-notch English language drafting skills. You must be adept at international business English. No
Latin, no colloquialisms & definitely no 18th century legalese.
• Attention to detail is and absolute must. (Did you spot the error in this sentence already?)
• Strong communication skills. You should be able to present complex legal provisions effectively to
a large group of people.
• Ability to come up with practical solutions for both legal and financial/commercial issues.
• Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with various business functions.
• Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
• Ability to prioritize goals and manage time effectively.
• Willingness to acquire new skill sets and an obsession to improve as a lawyer.
• Strong personal integrity.
