We work within the Elsevier Legal Department, which consists of lawyers, paralegals, and specialists in data privacy and artificial intelligence. We are strongly committed to supporting the professional growth and career development of our team.

About The Role

A Senior Associate Counsel will perform a variety of legal activities relating to litigation and compliance, including anti-piracy matters, evidence collection, policy related inquiries and agreements, reviewing transactions for policy compliance, and responses to discovery and document requests.

Responsibilities

Reviewing requests for sponsorship-related transactions and contracts

Reviewing transactions for compliance purposes

Supporting compliance investigations

Collecting and reviewing contracts and chain-of -title documents related to Elsevier's books and journals

Reviewing and responding to reports of piracy of Elsevier materials, drafting legal letters using templates

Responding to subpoenas and government requests (including drafting responses and collecting and reviewing documents)

Reviewing evidence for relevance and preparing summaries/timelines

Supporting other tasks relating to litigation / compliance matters

Requirements

Be a law graduate with experience in practicing law

Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills

Possess attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work well under pressure and deadlines.

Experience with drafting legal letters, memos, and/or reports

Be Effective and efficient to prioritize and execute tasks and demonstrate flexibility in a complex and constantly changing environment
